The Philistines came from Captor, the ancient name for Crete.

A mystery solved – The Bible is correct!  As stated in Amos and Jeremiah, now verified by genetic testing, the Philistines did come from Captor, the ancient name for Crete.

Facts/Science Supporting This

The origin of the Philistines who occupied ancient Israel before the Israelites arrival has been an archaeological mystery of long standing.  In Amos 9:7 and Jeremiah 47:4 references are made to the Philistines coming from “Captor”. Captor is the ancient name of Crete.  Bible critics have claimed there was no “proof” of this.

But now an article in June 27, 2020 issue of “Science Advances” published results of genetic studies of Philistine DNA that showed the Philistines of ancient Israel had genetic affinities with the ancient peoples of Greece.  The strongest affinity was with the population of Crete.
